Queen Of Hearts Gown

I had the pleasure of creating this whimsical series last January in collaboration with Bentley and Lace. The amazing designer and owner, Elizabeth Copeland, reached out to me after seeing my Red Queen headpiece that I posted to Instagram. I just finished making the headpiece for another dress that I had ordered but hadn’t received. I love it when designers want to collaborate and she had two gorgeous gowns that she wanted me to shoot.

The two gowns that Elizabeth sent were a perfect match for my headpiece and I had the perfect model! Kennedy is an amazing child model. She’s super sweet, smart, kind, and such a natural in front of the camera. Whenever I have a creative project, she is my favorite model to collaborate with. I always enjoy working with her and her sweet mother.

I chose the Texas Discovery Gardens here in Dallas as our venue. It’s one of my favorite places to take my clients for their family portraits and child portrait sessions. Especially in the winter months when the weather tends to be unpredictable. The indoor butterfly house is lush and warm with beautiful year-round blooms and hundreds of fluttering butterflies. The outdoor gardens span across 6 acres and they are still very pretty in the winter months. It really is the best of both worlds.

The first gown we shot was the Queen of Hearts gown. The details on this gown are amazing! With beautiful embroidered and sequin fabric and pops of pink and peach that coordinated gorgeously with my Red Queen headpiece. Did I mention the neckline has hand sewn pearl detailing? The second gown was the Fawn gown. Made with the softest blush pink velvet, piping on the bodice, and beautiful rhinestone buttons. The fluff was amazing! One of the best things about Bentley and Lace dresses is that you don’t need a petticoat due to layers upon layers of tulle and they’re lined with the softest bridal satin. This is still one of my favorite series. I had a blast styling this shoot and working with other creatives.
