The Queen of the Butterflies session was such a fun shoot to style for this sweet girl and her sweet mother. A few weeks prior, at our design consultation , we decided to give this session a secret garden feel. Vibrant colors were a must as well as, a unique couture gown, and an amazing headpiece. The location needed to be lush and full of life! What better venue to have our photoshoot than an actual butterfly garden that is, in fact, both those things!? The butterfly house at Texas Discovery Gardens in Dallas, Tx, was the perfect spot.

One of my favorite designers, and dearest friend, Elizabeth Copeland of Bentley and Lace, had just the dress for my little client. The Bristol gown did not disappoint! I quickly got to work on making the perfect couture headpiece to match.

Our shoot day was AMAZING and so much fun! This series will always be one of my favorites! That’s why I chose these for a sneak peek of a new item that I will be offering to all of my fine art children’s photography clients.

Another sweet friend of mine writes these wonderful short stories and I commissioned her to write a short fairytale poem to go along with this series. In the future, these will be customized for my clients to capture their child’s/children’s unique personalities.

Alice In Wonderland, I am not.

Nor, a princess from Camelot.

I am a maiden from another world

one that is made of beauty and charm.

Music that sounds from heavenly choirs

that sing of dreams and butterfly wings.

I listen to the songs of praise to Mother Nature.

Wings of golden hues that shimmer.

Wings of sea blue that do glitter.

Wings of green of forest trees.

Wings that flutter in the breeze.

Wings that make my heart twitter.

Oh, how I’d love to be the queen of butterflies I see.

I would be the Monarch that is so regal,

I would perch on the nose of a Beagle!

I’d fly among the flowers in the field,

landing only on the pretty ones.

Touching them gently, with great care to

admire their beauty with only my eyes.

Rainbow colors of the sky,

 all the butterflies

would never say goodbye.

If I were the Queen of the Butterflies.
